HAPPY couple Nor Azhan Nordin and Zubaida Yusoff looked upon their recent win of a Proton Waja as a blessing bestowed upon their unborn child.
On Sept 22, Nor Azhan, 31, was announced the winner of the Alamanda Putrajaya Spend and Win A Waja contest grand finals round held at the Centre Court of the mall. He beat 17 other contestants to win the sleek Proton Waja 1.6 Campro.

When interviewed later, Nor Azhan and Zubaida, both lecturers, said they looked upon their win as rezeki anak (blessing attributed to their child). The 29-year-old Zubaida is scheduled to deliver their second child in five months.
“We come to shop at Alamanda regularly and my wife suggested that I enter the contest after we realised that we had spent RM700 in accumulative receipts. We have another car but we really had our eye on the Waja,†he said.
The contest ran from the mega sales period from July 22 to Sept 3 in conjunction with Alamanda's second anniversary. Some 5,000 shoppers submitted their entry forms based on a minimum purchase of RM200 each made during the period. Twenty potential winners were then selected based on their slogan.
Of the 18 contestants present out of the 20 short-listed for the grand finals, only Nor Azhan and Chua Siaw Kim made it to the grand finals after the quiz round. To win the Waja, both had to answer questions related to the shopping mall, as in naming al fresco tenants and other queries along the line.
Although Chua had the first chance to grab a key from the box, the unlocking mechanism did not sound when she pointed the key in the direction of the car stationed nearby. It was Nor Azhan's key that set off the mechanism.
He later received a mock key to the car from Alamanda Putrajaya senior manager (retail department) Mohd Salleh Mohd Ali.
Meanwhile, Chua won a family holiday package to Hong Kong Disneyland.
