NORHAYATI Hamzah was delighted when she found out her husband’s contest entry not only bagged the RM500 grand prize. The entry for the Give Our Supermarket A New Name Contest organised by Aeon Co Bhd is also to replace the current J-One name in Klang Valley.

“I knew that his past-time was to enter contests but I had no idea how he answered the questions or what creative name he gave.

“I am the one who collected the entry forms and mailed them for him,” said Norhayati, who collected the prize on behalf of her husband Jamaluddin Puteh.

Besides Jamaluddin, another customer Suhana Mohammad Sombhas, was also named the grand-prize winner as she coincidently suggested the same name for the contest.

The new name is said to reflect Aeon’s commitment to customers of the friendly neighbourhood supermarket that consistently offers convenience and superior service.

“We are looking for a long-term relationship with our customers and to be the best local store with the surrounding community,” said Aeon managing director Nagahisa Oyama at a recent ceremony held at Pearl Point. Also present were Aeon chairman Datuk Abdullah Mohd Yusof and Aikbee Resources Berhad managing director Datuk Tan Aik Hong.
