PETALING JAYA, Fri (22 Sept, 2006) – An accounting lecturer and single mother of three today became the proud owner of a Mercedes Benz E-200k, valued at RM348,000.00.
Aziana bt Omar, 47, received the key to her luxurious sedan from En. Umar Bustamam, General Manager, Commercial Services, Malaysia Airports, at a prize-giving ceremony held at Cycle & Carriage Bintang here.
The prize giving ceremony marked the end of the KLIA Shopping "Real Value Real Style", A World of Celebrations campaign. The overwhelming response has proven once again that the campaign has achieved its desired objectives.
Aziana, whose entry was drawn by Datuk Seri Adnan Tengku Mansor, Minister of Tourism, at a dinner in June this year, said she was still in shock over the win. However, she plans to let her son enjoy the luxurious car for a few months before selling it off to pay for her children's education.
When asked why she partcipated in the contest, the frequent traveller said that she decided to try her luck and submitted the contest form after purchasing perfume at one of the airport retailers as a gift for her friend in Indonesia. Furthermore, according to her, the airport's facilities made it conducive for shopping.
"It has a very contemporary touch in its conceptualization and is at par with other world class buildings," she added.
Speaking on behalf of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (Malaysia Airports) in his welcome speech, En Umar Bustamam, General Manager, Commercial Services, Malaysia Airports said, "We are pleased with the support rendered by the Malaysian public and foreign visitors towards KLIA Shopping "Real Value Real Style" A World of Celebrations campaign."
He added that there will be another exciting campaign that will commence during the Ramadan month and will set KL International Airport abuzz with the various activities and prizes being lined up. He also expressed his appreciation to MasterCard International for being the Main Partner and Official Card for the KLIA Shopping Campaigns in KLIA since the campaign started in 2002.
The five-month campaign, which began in November 2005 and ended in March 2006, received an astounding 28,541 entries which overwhelmed the 6,000 entries received for the KLIA Shopping "Discover Malaysia" Campaign in 2004. The upcoming shopping campaign, which commences between mid-puasa month till April 2007 will offer more prizes to encourage higher participation.
The campaign was designed to reward the consummate shopper when they made purchases within the airport premises. Various special festive promotions were held during the Hari Raya, Christmas, Chinese New Year celebrations and the Formula 1 season also created hype. Participants during the campaign also doubled their chances in the various contests organized by making their purchases with MasterCard, the Official Card of the KLIA Shopping campaign.
