b) International divers
c) Non Divers
Divers from Malaysia/Singapore
This main category that carry prize of RM10,000 for champion, divers must be from Malaysia or Singapore. They can start submitting entries with a fee of RM10 for each photo (please refer to rules and regulation), beginning 25 February until 30 July, 2008.
Each photo must be taken in one of Terengganu’s beautiful islands or any island in Malaysia that designated as Marine Park of Malaysia.
Think it’s that easy? Nope, we know how the brain will work and copycat is everyway.
Thus, top 30 photographers (for best 30 photographs with different owner) in the first round, will be selected for final round – to compete among each other for the cash prizes.
Prizes offered – RM10,000 for champion, RM5,000 for second place, RM3,000 (3rd), RM2,000 (4th), RM1,000 (5th) and other consolation prizes.
International Divers
It’s much easier for international divers (not included Singaporean). All, they have to do is taking pictures in one of Terengganu’s beautiful islands – Perhentian, Redang, Lang Tengah, Bidong, Kapas or Tenggol – between March till 30 July, 2008.
Then submit to Seashuttherbug Secretariat, together with copy of diver’s log from the diving centres.
Don’t forget to caption the pictures, complete with environment background – a must tell story to entice more tourists to visit Terengganu’s beautiful islands!
Prizes offered – Champion for USD$2,000, second USD$1,000 and third USD$500.
Non Divers
Not forgetting our supporters from non divers group, CoRal Malaysia dedicated one category for them. This category only open to non divers from Malaysia.
With prizes range from RM3,000 for champion, RM 1,500 for second place and RM1,300 for third place, we hope our non diver friends can capture the essence of Terengganu’s beautiful islands.
There will be two round involved for this category. First round: submission of pictures from any of Terengganu’s islands or any island designated as Marine Park Malaysia.
Top 10 photographs (photographers) will be selected to participate in final round at one of Terengganu’s islands to win the cash prizes.
Conclusion
So, they hope you will start submitting great underwater pictures of marine life and its habitat, or photographs of polluted marine arrears that probably can touch human heart to take greater care of Malaysia’s heritage.
Please hold to IYOR 2008 Malaysian Chapter slogan: OUR Reef, OUR Heritage, OUR responsibility – when you click your shutterbug.
With your pictures, we might not only hold a great exhibition later, but also create awareness to public at large on why we have to take better care our MARINE HERITAGE!
